WE ARE TRIBESCAPES
Tribescapes is the brainchild of a young man Pavan Shrivastava, a native of the Tamia and Patalkot region, where sunlight scarcely penetrates the dense forests. The monsoon season blankets the valleys with thick clouds, creating a truly mesmerizing spectacle. In 2009, Pavan became involved in the Government of India's initiative to safeguard Special Backward Castes and Tribes. He assumed the role of an assistant on the committee responsible for evaluating this program, bringing a unique perspective to his efforts.
TRIBESCAPES NUMBERS
TAMIA PATALKOT
Nestled within the towering Satpuda mountain ranges, Tamia and Patalkot are positioned 78 kilometers from Chhindwara district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh. This remote expanse encompasses a dozen villages, predominantly inhabited by the Bharia and Gond tribal communities. Even today, certain villages present accessibility challenges, and the winds of modernization have only recently reached this region, with schools established as recently as 2007.
The Patalkot Valley, spanning approximately 90 square kilometers, resembles a natural basin adorned with meandering rivers, dense tree canopies, and numerous small water bodies. Sunlight here arrives late and lingers briefly, while during the monsoon season, the valley becomes cloaked in a captivating blanket of clouds. The clouds are so close and near you, that they almost touch your face! It's truly a unique experience.

According to local legend, it is believed that Ravana's son, Meghnad, paid homage to Lord Shiva in this very place before embarking on a journey into the earth's depths. This is the origin of the name Patalkot, symbolizing the gateway to the underworld.

These areas are part of the vast and towering Satpuda mountain range, characterized by its immense height. Here, 12 remote villages are nestled deep within the valley, covering approximately 90 square kilometers. The atmosphere is incredibly pristine and untouched by modernity, providing a unique and captivating experience for visitors.

PATALKOT KI RASOI
Pavan, with a vision for the local community, pioneered the 'Patalkot Rasoi.' His primary aim was to introduce the unique flavors of Patalkot and Satpuda to visiting tourists, offering an immersive culinary experience.
At the core of his mission was the empowerment of local women. Pawan skillfully prepared a diverse array of dishes, including maize roti, local tomato chutney, chickpea bhaji, desi barbatti dal, mohachi puri, and jalebi, among others. In total, he crafted 37 delectable dishes, each showcasing the rich food culture of the region.
Furthermore, Pavan initiated the sale of locally sourced products such as papad, maize, rice, wheat, udid, amla, mango, raw turmeric, lemon, and the exquisite natural forest honey, alongside jamun shot and various other forest items. These products, carefully crafted by tribal women under the banner of 'Patalkot ki Rasoi', made their way into the city, bringing the authentic taste of the region to a wider audience. Pavan took these delicacies to different food festivals, spreading the essence of the place.
In addition to culinary pursuits, Pavan delved into the study of the forest's herbs. He discovered a rich collection of 220 medicinal plant species within the forest. To Pavan, this forest is a source of invaluable wealth, serving as his capital to continue preserving and sharing the natural treasures of the region.
